Used a security tag from a DVD cut in half. The adhesive sticks to the back of the brake lever, and it's exactly the right size. If/when the adhesive gives up, I'll just buy another DVD and do it again.
I read your post and decided to try the DVD security tag before my switch arrives in a couple of days. I took brake lever loose and noticed the switch was not broken after all( I've broken two before). So I got to looking and saw my switch was stuck, I sprayed some silicon on it and put it back together, works fine. I'll just have a spare switch for whatever, it cost me $24 with shipping. Harley wanted $60 for the switch.
My brake light dosen't come on. Jumping the two wires at the rear switch the light comes on, bad switch! And jumping at the connector before the front right harness the light comes on, unless there is a broken wire before the switch looks like the front switch is bad also. Very strange both at the same time. Have both on order from ebay.
Hi,
Have you considered fitting a Banjo Bolt pressure switch instead?
It's a nice neat & tidy mod that does away with the fragile stock micro switch and will still work when the dreaded common fault with the MC piston sticking appears and the brake light starts to flicker.
I got the idea a few years ago from a friend (Devon John) on the HDRCGB forum but for the life of me I cant find his post to put a link on here.
All, I have intermittently gotten codes P0572, C1214, C1094 and all these seem to be related to the brake light switch's, my brake lights work fine, my cruise works fine. Anyone know what might be the issue? Thanks
