I am converting my 2000 Fatboy to and old skool deluxe. (black paint with red white pinstriping, red wheels with white walls.
Question. I am trying to decide on some new pipes for the bike. I have been thinking about some Samsons (Legend Series in Sinister Ceramic Black "Slashers). Can anyone let me know what they think about these pipes or any other recommendations? I want to stay with the 2 into 2 set up and on a loudness scale of 1 to 10 (1 being stock HD and 10 being straight pipes), I like something in the 5-7 scale.
i bet they'd look and sound great on your bike , but i'm not sure how 'old skool' they are . black is more new school to me , what i remember from back in the late 70's - early 80's is exhausts were all chrome
disclaimer : i'm kinda old school myself , and i've forgotten a lot of things . details like exhaust finish could be one of them
I have the old school look on my deluxe and love my pipes. But a word of advise, if you decide to go with Samson buy from a company that sell a lot of pipes, don't buy directly from them. I had a quality issue so the place where I bought the pipes had Samson contact me directly to help speed up the return process, that didn't work. I won't get into the details but just let me say that if I didn't have the company to fall back on I'd still be waiting to get it resolved. The company, not Samson ended up sending a new set.
Whatever brand you decide on, We can help as we sell tons of pipes. Old school brings to mind fishtails to me as well. But chrome. Black is not old school. Just my opinion. I can get you discounted pricing on all major exhasut brands so get me a part number and PM it to me when you make a decision. I bot for 36" fishtails for that ride. It sounds sick!
The Samson pipes you are looking at are The Black BigShot Staggards In Vance and Hines. Although I have the chrome linked below, the black pipes are part# 1800-0170 and an 02 plug kit is needed part # 1861-0464 for these pipes and your year fatboy. If you use short pipes and have white walls get ready for soot from the pipes to dirty them up quicker than normal.
I found this out after I bought my pipes. I love my white walls to be bright and spotless. http://www.vanceandhines.com/product...shotsstag.html#
