Captain, are you planning on doing upper and lower rocker box covers? I've been thinking about only doing my upper covers which is obviously not as much as switching both covers. I've seen the look on a couple of bikes and it's not too bad at all.

The only ting I can see that I am not a fan of, is that the tank lift makes that damn fuel crossover line stick out like a sore thumb. And I must say, your bike is still looking bad ***, propped up in the dining room and all!
It really does make a difference with the flow of the bike..when it's outside and I have more room to move around I'll of course take better pictures.. yeah the crossover line really does stick out, but after awhile of staring at it i hardly noticed it anymore.. my problem, however, is still the rear tank lift.. i've read the directions like 14 times and it just doesn't make any sense what they say, compared to what's on the bike.. and even looking at the Nightrain sitting next to my bike, that seat mounts the same way.. I'm running out of ideas for how they say it "moves the tank backwards or forwards"..because it really doesn't..

I am really only considering doing the upper rocker boxes along with the primary, clutch and cam covers. I seriously like the look of only the upper rocker boxes blacked out; especially in Vivid Black! I really like how they look on this guy's bike (attached)!

It says you have to lift the rear too? That sounds weird. I mean, if you did the 3 inch lift, I could see that the increase in lift in the front would pull the back of the tank forward (towards the trees, very slightly), but for the 1.5", I don't really know if it would change it too much.

No, you don't "have" to lift the rear..I bought the kit that does the optional lift in the rear as well, and that's the one I'm having issues with because the seat fits, but not properly (as you can see in the photos, the front of the seat sticks straight up).. they keep telling me to slide the tank to the rear, but I just can't figure out what the hell they're talking about.. because if I slide the tank back, there's no where to bolt it on to

Maybe the Lo is different enough from the standard (or older) softtail to where it makes a difference and the company didn't realize it. If you decide not to raise the rear, please post another photo. I may be interested depending on fuel capacity / gauge accuracy then but not with the current "rear" tank and seat issues.

I think a gloss black oil tank on your silver Lo would look good. I always liked the gloss black oil tank on my Badboy, and on your silver bike it would really look good IMO.

Who knew 3 inches could be such a game-changer?

Game changer or deal breaker? Captain, that's the look I like too. I think that I'll probably go with the denim black ones for my bike. That won't probably be for a while though. Once I get my pipes my parts will pretty much be limited to tires and oil. Unless it's a special occasion like my birthday, Father's Day, or Christmas.

Default just bought mine

Hey ya'll, just purchased my 2012 fatboy lo. Wont have it in my garage for another few weeks. Been in love with these bikes since my dad had one when I was a kid. My question is, I'm a little taller- 6'2", I know the lo isn't exactly for taller guys but my old man was able to talk the dealer into hookin me up with the tall boy seat for free with the purchase. My question is about handlebars. I am uncomfortable crunched in and actually enjoy a decent reach for the handlebars. From what I can tell my best bet would be 0" rise drags or some apes. I have never been on a ride longer than 2 hours as this is my first personal bike. Would it be more comfortable being able to lounge back with my arms stretched out with some apes or leanin' forward a bit with some 0 rise drags?

@EOD, Semper Fi brother, just got back in country a few weeks ago from Helmand Province

If you decide to go apes, I have 16 Harley Fat apes and risers for sale in classifieds. Good luck with either.
