I realize this question is as varied as asking what color should I like. After reading this and 3 other HD forums my head is spinning.
07 w stage 1 air, Bassani Pro Street w/o baffles, PCIII
last summer 71hp 80TQ. Run 2200 to 5500. 75mph nice at 2700/6th
I can get all my machine work free. Its family and reputable. I know free is never free.
Here is what I am thinking:
107 from my 96" cyl
10:1
Streetable heads
Andrews 54
retune
Unrealistic? Too cheap?
could I reasonably get 100/100 with this simple setup?
thx
You're not being unreasonable. Spend the extra $$ to buy a set of nice forged (not cast) 107" pistons. Have stock jugs bored to match pistons. Andrews 54 is a good cam. Set compression at 10:1 by having heads ported by someone reputable (like GMR, Baisley, Hillside, etc). And retune it. The pipe may hurt you a bit (2-1s are better for performance). But, you should have a nice running bike!
Thanks for keeping it simple 445. Tried to find JE and Wiseco in 107" What am I doing wrong. Hell of a start when I cant even find the pistons.
Thx again.
445 said it well..rather than going for free machining I would send the jugs direct to Wideco or JE and have them bore and fit pistons.. Anyone of the guys he listed for the head work is a good start.. I went with GMR.. Have them install the comp releases even if you don't think you need them with your build.. You will one day.. lol
Thanks Rail. Your suggestion is inline with many others that recommend GMR Hillside etc. As for the pistons I had already gone through their websites before I asked. I must be blind. Will call them instead.
Thanx
