I just want to rant that the two sided tape on the swing arm chrome kit sucks. I have am now on my third piece of chrome for the exhaust side upper slot. All the others have stayed put but I don't know if it is the heat from the exhaust that is loosening the tape but for some reason it keeps falling off. When the first piece fell off I had to but the full $40 kit to replace the one piece. When the second piece fell off I had to make a piece by using one of the spares from the kit and cutting it to fit. If this piece falls off I will replace it with the kit that is sold on Ebay that the guy claims is better quality. Anyone else have any experience with this?
Mine have stayed on without incident. They were put on in 2004 by the dealer before i purchased the bike. My guess is you have some oil or grease on the area where the chrome keeps falling off. Cleanit with some solvent first and then go with some kind of epoxy.
I put a set last night, I lost one on top right side this afternoon. The double sided tape remains while the chrome part is gone. I believe is due to heat. So I bought another set and if it doesn't work, hmmmmm going for the more expensive one - chrome swingarm.[:@]

Your experience is exactly the same as mine. Do believe that the failure is heat related.
Shineybike, I did clean all the parts properly before mounting.
