When bought my 2002 fxst it had 32k we took of the cover to check the tensioners. They looked real good, too good. My friend is a really good hd mech, for about 35 years. He said lets change the oil. When i pulled the plug on the oil tank nothing came out. He said did you ever change the oil? I said yes 200 miles ago. He says i know what is going on. We took out the plug in the crank case and out comes 3 qts of oil. He says the particles from the adjusters had plugged up the scavenge side of the pump. So i went with the gear drive set up . He said you will probley never have to take the cover off again. Basically turned the bottom end into an evo with 2 cams.

Pushing 83K now. Had an unsuspected front sprocket failure during Bike Week in Daytona. Can't quite figure out how all those splines could wear away to nothing.

One of the few threads where resurrection has benefits. First time seeing this one and figure I'll jump in.

I'm riding a '13 Slim and doing the 15K maintenance right now (yes it's at 15K currently). At this time there have been no issues with the bike.

Outside of having it Dyno tuned to add more fuel, there are no internal engine mods (not expecting too). I use Purple Synthetic in 2 holes and HD Synthetic in transmission. I always change fluids per manual and in between if headed out on longer trips where a lot of miles are being added in a short period of time.

Thanks for the updates all, it's good to see what's going on with other bikes.

Been through two fuel lines and filters, and one fuel pump related plastic piece that allowed fuel to gush in the tank causing very little pressure. Happened all at once, almost stranding me. The part was cheap, but still had to pull the assembly. Both fuel line issues were pin hole rub related. The second one I put a larger clear vinyl tube over it before inserting it in the tank.

Ran Harley Syn 3 for the first 10K, then switched to Amsoil in all three holes every 5K. Any time I have removed a cover for any reason everything is clean and shiny.
