Default Troubles

Well, I left my house with my H-D Fat Boy detachable saddlebags, and arrived with only one. had to ride home, get in the SUV, and backtrack my ride in. Only a few miles down the parkway I started to see the remnants of my bag and mounting arm. The arm may be okay with some paint and elbow grease, but the bag is a goner. That bag has been on for weeks, and I checked everything before I left for work. Best I can tell, the spring-lock failed because it is no longer snapping into place.

A few weeks efore that, one of my Auxilliary Lighting Halogen bulbs got whacked and smashed by one of my 3 kids- and yes, the are ALL innocent of course (yeah right).

This past Monday I checked the weather before I left for work, and it said was fog every town all the way to work. It was going to be 83 for the ride home, so I took off my windshield for that wind in your face feeling, but a mile from my house I drove into a light drizzle which turned into rain before I got to work- where it was sunny. 20 miles of rain & fog on the highway= 5 hours drying time for your Levi's.

I can buy the bag alone but if it turns out that I need a new arm I have to buy the whole $850 saddlebag kit. You can buy everything in separate pieces, except for the arms. Because I didn't want to pay full price + labor when I bought the bike in October, Harley won't back the bag- sometimes I really hate H-D.

Also keep an eye on ebay. I have detachable bags on my Fatboy too. When I was looking for them, I saw a single bag on ebay a couple different times. I'm guessing somebody went down and took out one bag and was selling the other.

+1 on the easy brackets. I had then on my Vstar. I didn't put them on the Deluxe because the bags go on with two bolts in less than 5 mins.
