I just did the ape install on my Train. There is a ground wire that connects behind the right side of the tree to the under side of the right riser bolt. Well I put the Gooden Tight riser bushings in and they have a flush mount bolt that is not wanting to get real tight with the connection from that stupid ground wire. Can I remove it the ground wire? I'm a cop not an electrician.
Getting a shock from what? DC voltage? You can put your fingers across a car battery and it wouln't shock you. It's there to ground whatever needs a ground. The guy who said it would ruin your neck bearings is right. I don't want that electrician wiring anything of mine.
If you're concerned about taking it off just drill and tap a hole under the triple tree and use a machine type screw to hold the wire in place with an electrical ring. If you're unsure of how to do it just take the bike into a local car stereo store and ask a tech to do it for you.
And to the non-believers thinking 12v isn't enough to do anything try taking a wrench and laying it across the positive and negative terminals of a battery and see how fast it tries to weld itself to the posts.
Will it mess up neck bearings? I don't know for sure but I wouldn't want my bike to be the test subject.

Your body is a pretty good insulator. Put a bit of a load on that battery then break the wire and let the voltage run through your hand. It will be shocking I assure you. All the lighting on the front end of his bike carries a positive an a negative wire to each light therefore making that ground strap a safety wire incase of the event of a ground fault.
