Default Transmission Question

Went to change the transmission oil today on my 2008 fxstc and when I drained it, the color was a creamy milk, is this normal? and I replaced the oil with Armsoil 20w50, is this oil ok?

Thank-you.

The milk color was due to water in the transmission. You should probably change it again in about 500 miles or one month.

Do you ride in the rain? and is your rubber breather hose still attached? Did you cross a creek with your scoot? Their has to be a reason for water in the trans. After you flush out the residue with Amsoil I would sugjest a gear oil for the transmission preferibly synthetic but its your bike.

Where is the breather hose located, I just purchased the bike a month ago and rode it about 300 miles and then decided to change the primary and the tranny oil, the primary oil looked ok but the tranny oil looked like milk?

Its just under the front of the oil tank and in front of the starter. Its a 3/8 o.d. black hose bent in a U. its on a ****** brass nipple that exits the top cover of the tranny. I would sugjest getting a manual it will save you money in the future and keep it out of the hands of the dealer. Good to see you are tackling changing your own fluids too.

If it was mine I'd run it around the block and change it again. It's only one quart. And I would put in gear lube. Engine gets engine oil. Tranny with gears gets gear lube. I use Mobil 1 75w/90 or 75w/140 in the summer. Others like shockproof or amsoil gear lube. It's not rocket surgery.
