Default Stator

But he recomended that I do not use syn3 for the primary because it may cause the stator to burn out he said to use Formula+ for the primary. Has anyone heard of this before?
BTW I decided to change my own oil, I am going with Mobile 1 20-50 for V-Twins in the engine and primary. Mobile 1 79w90 for the tranny.

Stator is just a copper wire coils with epoxy coating. Check out my picture of it under 'Primary chain alignment tensioner alternator rotor magnets' . Syn3 will not hurt it. May caused just a slight increase in clutch slip before it is completely in-- (few turns) nothing that will hurt anything but a little more wear. Your Mobile 1 20-50 will do the same thing in primary. What kills stators is people overloading the draw on the electrical system or hooking up wires incorrectly. Run Formula+ since your saving a bundle by doing it yourself. It will cost you a few dollars more but its hard to find a oil without what they call a detergent (keeps the curd suspended in the oil till the filter gets it). The transmission and primary do not have filters.
I run year round and the Mobile Syn 75-90 (your 79 a new thing???) caused my transmission to be sluggish in the winter. If I compensated for it it was OK and it could have been I was slow and bundled up so much. Sure sounds better in the summer with 75/90 it in. Slow shifting is harder on transmissions then anything. I rarely see a broken gear and have never seen a worn one. Just messed up bearings from chips or jammed shift forks from forcing still transmissions.
Run Syn3 or 20-50 motor oil in engine. You will never know difference. (As far as when you do put enough mile on to have a wear problem)
