The fall is my favorite time of the year here in the SE. I love Sept, Oct, and Nov. Nice riding for sure. The summer riding is fine if you're moving. Almost need to wear long sleeves to keep from getting burned up. I blistered my upper arms on Monday riding. I agree, many different situation but riding is always better than not riding.
Yes it is hot here in NC right now. Is it to hot to ride. NO!! The worst part for me is I work on Camp Lejeune so that means I got to have pants and long sleeve shirt on to get on and off base. So that just makes things hotter. I still ride though. I have heard so many excuase from people of why they are not riding. It is crazy. Every chance I get to ride i am on the bike. I just dont get it!!!!
When you say north, what exactly are you referring too? North of.... where? You'd like us to guess?
You're current location would be a good general start point for the OP. I suggest you spend some time in the User CP.

I don't recall anyone saying they weren't riding because of the heat. There were a few posters (including me) who said they have changed their riding schedule to early morning. One guy even stated he was riding at night.
I live in a 365 days-per-year riding environment so shifting my schedule to morning rides is not a big deal.
Too hot to ride never for me but I do find it funny all the wimp statements are from areas up north or from areas with no humidity. I have been in the desert and I would trade 110 with no humidity for 85 with 100% humidity any day!
I agree about the humidity, that is the worst part of summer weather in the south. It's a good thing I am just a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway.Even on the hottest of summer days, riding is always great on the mountains.
