Currently I have Dunlop's on my 1997 Heritage Softail: D 402F MT90B16 on the front and D402 MT90B16 on the rear, both wide white walls. I'm trying to figure out which Metzler Marathon ME880's would be a match. I've heard good things about these tires. I do not want to do any mods, so I suspect from what I've tried to find on the site that I would use the 130/90-16 on the front and I could use the 130/90B16 or the 140 on the rear which is a little bigger requiring no modifications? What do you think about going to a wider tire on the rear? Will it affect the ride in a positve or negative way?
Check THIS out. It's Metzeler's fitment page for 1986 up Heritage Softail. Just to be safe, you should call a dealer and cross reference with them, though.
I put Metzeler ME880s on my Night Train, and I absolutely love them!
thanks Clammy.............I now got the right sizes, I'm now just wondering what happens if I go with alittle wider tire, the 140 on the rear and the 130 on the front...........??
i have a 2000 softail standard and i just changed from dunlop to metzler. i'll never use dunlop again. i also put a 150 back tire on my bike (with no adjustments at all) and i really like the ride. try the wider tire and you'll love it too.
I was told by my tire guy that going to the wider tire would possibly cause rubbing on the fender. Something to do with the sidewall rib being more prominent than the standard size. Didn't feel like messing with it.
