Default Crappy Ride!

Went riding with some buds on Saturday, got about an hour from the house, and when we pulled over for a rest, one of them notices my tail light is VERY loose. Prelim inspection showed that one of the threaded posts which is a part of the base of the tail light that sticks through the fender was BROKEN OFF at the base. We had enough paper towels to take up the space needed to keep it from bouncing off my paint, so off we ride.

We pull over one more time shortly thereafter and look at it, and now BOTH of the screw posts are broken off!! Had to cut the wires (which do NOT disconnect from the lamp, BTW!!) While we were doing this, another in our group motions to me, and I go over and he points at my front tire. Yep, you guessed it...a screw is sticking out of my front tire, but thankfully not leaking air.

I had to ride home w/no taillight and a screw in my tire.

I guess you could say I was screwed.

oh well...Now I'm looking for a new tail light/harness for my Fat Boy.

hope your gettign a new tire too man... not worth it leaking air while your riding!!

best of luck, I just got a funny look horizontal crack/cut/mark in my rear that made me nervous this week. Its horzontal to the ground not vertical like one you'd see from a burnout or something...hmmmmmmmm

Look at the good side of that day. You were riding with other bikes so you could get home safely without a tailight, and to get home on that tire was a real plus.

You are 100% correct. It was an uneasy feeling on that tire.

Consider yourself lucky. You could have wrecked. I'm OBSESSIVE about my tires. If I was in your situation, I would have parked the thing and gotten a ride home.
