Yeah, I heard something like that too - like 5th isn't made up like the other gears. Why would that be then, is there a reason to make one gear differently to the rest?

Sorry tell you guys, the only way to get the "noise to stop" is go to a heavier oil in the tranny. Around here, they're goin' to 75w90 sythetic gear lube. My wife's 07' Heritage whines in 1st and 5th also. It doesn't get better by itself. I put Valvoline 75w90 synthetic gear lube in my Screamin' Eagle 6 Speed on my dresser and it helped the 6th gear wine instantly. This isn't the standard HD response to the problem but behind the scenes, dealers are upgrading the lube so satisfy customers complaints.
