Got a set of V&H big radius and want a little louder sound. I am going to cut the baffles and try that and if I do not like that I am going to go with big city baffles.
Since I have a Power commander-5 on it now do I need to remap for the changes in the baffles? I know it will affect back pressure and the power commander-5 eliminates the O2 sensors.
When I put the pipes on the bike before adding SE air and power commander it was loud and after adding the power commander and SE air it lost the loudness ( due to the motor running right-richer). I am just trying to get the sound back some.
BTW, What is the best way to cut the V&H baffles? And cut how much off?
Thanks
when the motor is running right it will get quieter. i have the TM and it auto tunes, when i change baffles it gets loud and after a few hundred miles it mellows out. my baffles ate at 4 in external and 3 in internal and that is the loudest and still have back pressure i could get.
i would suggest building your own baffles first before cutting those. they are tuned and you done what to change that
We've cut them in half with a chop saw for a couple of customers before. Might make it a bit more raspy is all. But, yeah, any change to the back pressure is going to irritate your download. Not sure whether it is the wisest move though. You can't uncut them...just because our shop has done it does not mean we advise it. Sometimes you gotta do what your told by the bike owner regardless of wisdom.
I understand. I will call Fuel Moto and see if I need to remap if I throw Big City's in. I would think I would but not sure if they have a map for them.
Thanks for the reply's.
Nope, I am concerned with performance but want the sound back. Thinking the BCB might give me the sound back and keep the map where it is. I don't want to run without baffles. Before the PC-5 it was way to lean and but runs great now.
