I am thinking about adding a second front disc to my Heritage. I don't know why Softails don't come that way.. but I'm wondering if anyone has done this? Thanks.
After spending 4 yrs in collecting all the parts to put duals on my 02 Heritage, I back out and asked myself, why.... Anyways, ending up selling everything at a swap meet for about half of what I paid. Still running the stock single and still works just fine after 85,000 miles. Only on my 3rd set of Lyndell pads.
Get a 6 piston PM. That is what I run with Lyndall pads and it works great. Every time I ride the wife's sporty with stock calipers I remember why I made the change! I can get you all you need for the swap too.
why spend all that cash when a vrod brembo caliper and front rotor will bolt right on and at half the cost..
Are you certain of this ?
I have the Haybusa Jap calibers with an Adapter from "Fab Kevin", it works a lot better than stock.. but I can always improve.
Softails don't come this way stock because dual disc brakes are UGLY! I had a FatBob, and always thought that was the worst aesthetic feature of the bike. Wheels are meant to be seen, not hidden away behind a bunch of disc brakes.
Now that I've got that out of the way. Do as the others have suggested. I don't know about swapping out parts for V-Rod or crotchrocket ones. I'm not satisfied with how well the swap would go. If you are very concerned, go with a guarantee and do the upgrade with Performance Machine.
