Default Has anyone customized their FLSTC saddlebags?

I want to change the look of the bags, but don't want to shell out $600-$1300 for new custom bags. Has anyone customized their stock Heritage Softail Classic bags with conchos, fringe, other? Know anyone who does that kind of work? Ideas?

Where are you going to find space on those bags to put another concho? I have a FLSTC as well but I don't know if I got anymore space for stuff.

Good question! Possibly along the top flap above the straps, so a thong hangs down over each strap. Something like the '10 Heritage bags. I dunno, it was just a thought....

Like U,, I haven't changed mine YET.... but I just today bought some PAPA bag supports...
I really didn't need them yet,,, but have read do it before they sag toooooo much..

The bags that I really like (love) is the LUX Springer ones. with fringe... but like U said,,, bout $$1200... ain't gona happen.....and thats on E-BAY

I've though bout adding fringe to stockers,, but not sure they would be right...

I do all my own leather work... and have added a bunch of fringe to ours.. plus the floorboards and wrapped the speedo console with leather and spots..

As far as the bags,,,, I've thought about just doing the straps,,, with fringe.. maybe the top of the lids,,, but it needs to be balanced with some on the bottom of the bags...????

Thats why I haven't done it yet..

Concho's ,,,, not sure thats the answer,, maybe adding some more leather to the ones already there with a little fringe on the ends....
I've done all the fringe on our bike myself,,,, grip ends, clutch/brake levers. floorboars, seat, rear mud flap and cup holder.

Really need to redo with heavier leather than I used.. but till them I am ok...

Heres the bags that I really like....

Some what like the newer ones....

I did see photos awhile back where someone put the turn signals in the bags. Didn't look bad either.

Too bad Tandy is all catalog now. You can try them, or if there is a local western store that does custom saddles and such they probably have nail in or screw in pieces. A high roller such as yourself can spend quite a bit, but have something really unique.

Default Customizing Heritage Saddlebags

I sent my 2010 Heritage saddlebags to Boss Bags to have them reworked.I hade them install 10 " frindge on my bags. Cost $ 350.00 I also had them reininforce the bags & lids & locks. Cost $ 200.00 I also had them put there 2 ply , longer than stock straps on also. Cost $ 50.00. Im more than satisfied with there work. The shipping both ways cost approx $ 80.00. If you want to see the frindged bags on my bike go to boss bags.com and click on the box on the right side of page. You will see my blue Heritage with the frindged bags. The other leather on my bike is from Chilhowee Leather which is another good company to deal with. cycle 75

Several yrs ago, I sent my stock bags to Osprey.
He used my originals as patterns and made bags twice as sturdy
as the originals, better latches etc, and plain!!! No studs, conchos etc.
The plastic backing is original so the mounting is the same.
If I recall it was $450 + shpg. But again, that was years ago.

I've added PaPa bags insterts 3yrs ago.

Then last spring I bought another hide and re-did all my fringe.

Re -did the grips, windshield bag, cup holder, seat, floorboards, rear mud flap and then Added some to the Bags..

Heres a pic of what the bags look like when I got done.
