Default Thinking about mini apes

Im thinking about going with mini apes on my 05 softail standard. I would like to go with something about the size of the mini apes on the street bob, but i dont know what size that is. Is it possible to do it without changing the cables and wires out, if so what is the tallest size i can go with. I've searched this topic a lot and cant find much on mini apes. Thanks for any help

Measure Ur bars then add the new height Ur wanting to add, then see is its more than what U have on U present one plus the difference between the new ones and the stock ones. Then check the amount of backwards tilt the new ones have compared to the stock one and see it it more than the cables will stretch for the original point of the stock bars..
If so they should work. if not U'll need new cables.

I think the street bob bars are 10" I would imagine a narrow ape like the Bob bars will work without changing cables but i would guess anything taller and you will need to change them. I am not absolutely certain so please don't buy on my advice alone! Anyone else?

Thanks for the info guys. I was looking through the softail pictures and saw that FXNOTST put 12" apes on his 07 without changing any cables. It looks like he has the smallest risers possible maybe 1"? (page 119 of softail standard pictures) I think Ill probably go that route.

I have mini aps on my cross bones and love them. Drove across Canada and the USA with them. I'm only 5'1" so I had to have them tilted back a bit.

I put Street Bob bars on my train awhile back. I had to use the stock SB cables, but I was starting with a train, so none of them would work. Also spent $40 and had them powdercoated black by a local shop.

SB bars are about 10.75" rise with decent pullback. Nice fit for me with 2" risers. I did a couple posts on it if you search my threads.

Good luck and let me know if I can field any questions for ya.

12" Pro6,

Used new Brake and Clutch, same Throttle cables, my bars have quite a pull back/low that is very comfortable, I am 5'9.
