Hello Brothers

Here i am confused with how long (minimum) of samson true dual fishtail length i should get for my fatboy so that I can put street glide hardbags on my motorcycle in future without any changes to the pipes.

First figure out where the bags will be mounted and how far back they wil go, then decide how far back you want the pipes. I would guess you want at least 28 or 30 inch mufflers so they stick out just a little furhjter than the bottom edge of the bags.

28.5" go to the end of the rear fender then 33" go just past the fender. You wouldn't want your bags hitten your pipes would ya? I would say for bags go 36" maybe ...but 39" for sure with a hardbag set-up. Especially with Street Glide hardbags...

33" or 36". 33" will extend past the rear fender a few inches, 36" will even a bit further past that. 28.5" will basically come even with the furtheset edge of the rear fender. Why don't all you fishtaikl guys post up pics so he can see? I

33" would be partially covered by the hard bags. 36" would work and 39" would stick past. Don't have hard bags on so why post...lol

I didn't realize the bag were going to stick out that far. I'm still waiting for pics.

My friends Deluxe with RK bags...these are Freedom Sharktails, but the length is the same as my old Samson 33" fishtails. You can see that just extend past the bags, but not by much.

Here is a pic with 39" cholo longtails. I wouldn't go any shorter than 36s. I believe when a talked to a tech from Samson he said the 36" mufflers were made for applications with roadking bags. Call Samson and ask them. They are very helpful. The Samson man might chime in here in a minute. Post Pics!

Hey Santo do your 28.5" go past your rear fender? in your pic they look to go past the fender. Because i had 28.5" and mine were just to the end of my rear fender. I wonder is Samson "fishtails" are measured different than Samson "longtails"?
