Go out on the interstate and crank it up to 85 for 1 hour. After that 65-70 will seem slow and easy.

You got that right.. I got her up to about 75 last night.. when I pulled off the freeway, city driving felt like I had been doing it my whole life..

We are going out with my brother, and a buddy, all going 2-up... should be a fun night! and no winds

On Christmas Eve 1998 I rode 33 miles to work in gale force winds. Man it was hairy, Trees were blown down, I got blown all over the road. Only when I got to work did I realise how close It had been. A colleague also coming to work got trapped in his car when a tree fell on it as he was driving. My problem was the bike at the time was my only transport so it had to be done. I've learned from that experiance and know my limitations. I dont mind the wind but if its realy blowing I dont ride, especialy two up.

do the wheels on the fatboy make for that much more wind resistance?

would having spokes or "mag wheels" make the wind noticeably less??

not sure that I would swap em out, just curious.

You will find that wind gusts can happen anywhere anytime. Key is to keep your grip relaxed, do NOT decelerate but keep and even throttle through the gust, keep looking where you want to go, and you will automatically do whatever is necessary (counter steering into the wind, etc.) to keep your bike in the lane. If you fail to apply any of the above, you will have a different, and probably less desirable result.

I have had a couple of Fatboys and on my latest I have the Reaper Wheels. Honestly I can't tell any difference. +1 on you will get use to the wind blowing you around after a while. Some days are worst then others, but after a while you won't pay in attention to it.

so, took the wife out for lunch today, the freaking wind was blowing me all over the place....

Am I that big of a ??

My real question is, is there a legit chance of being blown off my wheels, or do I just need to learn and "suck it up"? the wind was about 20-25 gusts across me.....

let the newbie bashing begin!
But I honestly will appreciate the responses.

On my Nightster I could feel the wind and it buffeted me around pretty well. On my Street Bob it was less and on my Train I hardly feel it at all. When I had my crotch rockets (05 Honda 600F4I and 08 Hayabusa) I felt it a lot and hated even to ride by 18 wheelers. Now on my Train, I blow by most folks and the buffeting isnt bad. I live in Florida where we have some wind and haven;t had much of a problem on a 600+ pound bike. You should be OK.
