Very disappointed today fellas, I was checking the air pressure on my tires this morning as I usually do and noticed lots of cracks on the side walls of my 21" metzler, WTF..... I run the psi at 42 as required, I dont put any hazardous chemicals on my tires, and I only have 1700 miles on the tire. Heck it still has the little nipple rubbers all over the tire that havent worn out yet. The cracks on the side wall are small but large enough to see some of the white wall thru them, I also noticed some cracking on the treads. Im going to take it to the local shop that sold it to me to see what they recommend. Has this happen to anyone with Metzlers? I had to switch back to my original 16" front wheel till I get this taken care of, doesnt have the cool factor but at least Im safe.
If you stretched the tire to fit a 3'' or larger rim this will cause the tire to get micro cracks from stretching the tire, which is normal in time on streched tires. If they are micro cracks (Notice I called them micro cracks) I would not be concerned. if they are large cracks I would be concerned. Just my 02 cents worth.

You are right they are micro cracks, but I still don't feel comfortable riding it. I know there is still alot of rubber under the white wall but I dont want to chance it with my shitty luck. My wheel is 2.5 wide so I don't thick thats an issue. I did find a thread here that says that any tire mad in Brazil are being recalled.
I could be wrong, but didn't Metzler just come out with a 90/90/21 WW only about a year ago? I think so.
That is fast (1yrs. old) for a tire to start to crack.
No Idea....
But I have had someone try and sell me old tires before....
I do know that Metz had some issues with tires manufactured south of the border...
It was a sidewall issue...more bubbling...not cracking...
I think it was several years ago though...
