I think I finally got all the parts I want to order for my X-bones and rear fender setup but I was just wondering if I could wire up some marker lights as turn signals. They dont have to be run/turn/brake lights but I would like them to work that way. Drag Specialties has 'capsule marker lights' which are decent looking and can be seen at a wide angle and they also have 'pony lights' which look exactally like the lights ive seen on another springer that looked nice. Fit right under the springer seat and had a nice bobber look. I cant tell if they have wiring and everything but for $17 they're not a bad choice regardless.
Anyways if anyone knows if this can be done and how please let me know this fender is just sitting here and its driving me crazy. Its time to start hacking away at my Crossbones! Thanks!
if u don't want to waste a penny on it, u can do what I did... u just need a dual-filament bulb and a compatible socketwith three wires coming out, connect the ground tognd, and one to the stop light and the other to the signalling wire and that's it,u have a brake/turn lights
if u just want to use or marker lights as signals, than just connect them to the signalling wire, but they will not work as stoplight.
Something to be aware is that the lifespan of the marker bulbscould be shorter if used as signal...
I have dual function lights on my bike with a Badlands Illuminator controlling the different functions. I'm not sure if it will work with single element lights though. It's roughly 100 bucks and works great.
Nice ride... like the fender and the way the plate is blended in. The capsule marker lights are dual-filament 1157 bulbs so I think im going with them. I ordered a Model A tail light and license plate from Road 6 Customs... they looked pretty good and had a custom fit one for 08+ models. I cant tell if the capsule lights have 3 wires or two but I think I can get everything to work out. Nothing is getting changed to LED and if I have to I can get a good load equalizer to keep everything working normal. Ill keep everyone updated on the quality of everything and ill be sure to show off the new fender when it arrives. Thanks again!

Witht he Badlands Illuminator, you do NOT need dual intensity bulbs or LEDs. In fact, if you have dual intensity their instructions tell you to twist the two power wires together to make a single wire. The Illuminator creates a running light electronically, and does full intensity for brake and turn. This is why it works on stockbikes with 1156 rear bulbs or LEDs.
