Crossbones with 16s
Im seriously considering a cross bones for next year but am used to my street bob so sitting on a standard X Bones feels like your sitting on it not in it.On my street bob my arms ar level to the bars,on the standard xbones too but on this xbones in the pic the brawler seat sits you lower and in the frame and with the addition of the 16" apes my hands came up to about eye level..felt ok to me
Think the apes were 1" diameter 16" Burly narrow apes internally wired.
Been looking at both the new Fat Boy Lo and the X bones..the Lo costs more but looking at them both just seems you get more for your $ with the X bones.. but beyond that I prefer the X bones Bobber look to the Lo...

Going off your description...I think I may actually go back to the 14". I'd rather not go higher than my chin...But, also, with the difference in seats...maybe the 16" would work out in the end...
What's the answer?
What?! Hey! That's...that's not cool! What about my curiousity? lol.
Seems everyone wants me to work on patience these days...
I'm enthused to see what you ended up going with! I haven't done mine yet (obviously), so I'm still in the "research" phase. I'm highly influenceable in the realm of height. I just know I won't go lower than 14, or higher than 16. Maybe I'll go 15...that's a good compromise...lol.

I agree with that, but I am running a Badlander.....That stock seat was the first thing to go!!!
The dilemma is that the stock bars cause me to slouch a lot. Therefore, not the most comfortable, but not a headache either. Going too tall as in making one's arms go numb isn't fun or comfortable either. What we want is cool, stylish, as big as we can go, but still retain comfort for long trips. Well, I say this because Brett and I appear to be looking for the same things...
I agree with Doc J, The last thing I want to do is go too tall. I would rather sacrifice the couple extra inches of "cool" by going with 14s instead of 16s. Because of the stock riser set up on the Crossbones, it seemed like most guys with 16s ended up with their hands around eye level if they were at least about 6' 1". Me being right around 6', I am pretty sure the 14s will put me about shoulder level. I would rather go a little lower on the bars and still enjoy riding it than go with a bar so tall that I don't feel in control of the bike
