Default Extended forward controls

Just bought a 2006 fxst. It had extended forward controls on it. They are too forward for me to comfortably ride long distances. Can I just take them off, remove the back plate off of them, & mount them directly to the frame, or do I need to purchase something additional to make this work . This looks like it would put it in a normal forward control position

Your method will work fine. You'll just need a shorter shift rod and figure what to do with the excess brake line.

I put some on my night train when I first got it, and just removed them last night for the same reason. Mr. Lucky is right, you'll just need a stock length shift rod. When I installed mine I didnt need extended brake line (mine are 2" extentions) so I didnt need to mess with that....but if yours was replaced you'll either need a stock length brake line or find someplace to put the slack.

you could see if anyone on here wants to buy your kit. Maybe work out some kind of swap with them
