Default Starter problem with high performance engine

I hope someone can give me some help here. I have a 99 Fatboy that I bought from a private party with a High Performance Motor. I don't have much information on what the cc is, all I have is that is has Hemi Heads, crane adj pushrods evo,ev27 cam andrews, mean mother pippes,sc street igniton module. So the problem I am having is that I am going threw my 2nd starter in 18 months. I live in Phoenix and when I ride and its hot out and the bike is hot, I will stop and try to restart the bike and all I get is a click , click , from the starter {new Battery}. So I have had it into the shop 2 times and they cleaned the starter up and it starts for a while. I am not sure what to do now. I hate to spend the money on another starter if this is going to happen a year later. Can anyone help...

Thank you
TrACY

It'd be good to know what U have... Really gets me that someone buy's a bike and don't even know whats going on...

CR's maybe what U need or a high torque starter...

I'm sure you don't have them or at least you don't use them. They allow a small amount of compression to leak out of the cylinders until it starts. They are stems that stick out of the heads about the size of spark plugs. You push the tops of them before you try to start the engine and the once the engine starts they will close automatically.

Another thing to look at would be a high torque starter. Stock may not have enough power to start your bike.

I had issues with my stock 88 starting and I went to a 66 tooth starter ring gear, 1.6k starter, big amp battery with all ***** cables and that fixed the problem. I am doing motor and head work this winter and plan on adding the compression releases.
