Need help selecting Fat Boy Bags
Currently, I have the Fat Boy Lo seat and an HD detachable sissy bar using the HD docking hardware for the struts. I have already taken care of the rear turn signal problem by going to the Alloy Art strut LEDs, which are really cool. I have a V&H double barrel staggered exhaust so the stock shotgun exhaust is no longer a bag size issue.
There are so many bag manufacturers out there and I have been to most of their websites. But Im not sure how detachable bags will work with my existing detachable sissy bar hardware. None of them are that specific at addressing that question. I am trying to avoid the Frankenstein bolt look when stripped down, which I already have to some degree with the sissy bar docking hardware. They really stand out with those slim Alloy Art turn signals. And I also dont want a large gap between the struts and the bags, I want to keep them tucked in as close as possible. Im sure there will be a small gap, again from the sissy bar hardware.
Im looking for leather bags that are about 13 or so high, maybe around 19-20 long, but I dont want them too wide maybe 6-7. I have looked at the Boss Bags size 36, but again, not sure about the bolt look without bags and the gap between the bags and the bike. Also, the Boss Bags seem to be at the top of the price range, is there a quality difference with theirs? They get almost a grand for a set of plain ones. I dont mind spending the extra as long as I am getting the extra.
Hopefully my criteria is not asking for too much here. Has any one out there already gone through this exercise? Any pictures (side and rear view) of bags on and off .with sissy bar on and off?
Thanks!

I think I have narrowed it down to either Leatherpros or Boss, I will call them today to get more info.
The Boss looks like it uses the 2nd and 3rd strut bolts from the rear. The Leatherpros looks like they use the last two bolts...at least I think. I like the idea of using the 2nd and 3rd from the rear, which leaves the last one untouched, it's already sticking out pretty far from the HD docking hardware and I don't want it to stick out any further. Although the Leatherpros backside looks more contoured to hug the bike closer, where as the Boss Bags back looks flat. Does anyone know which of the two hug the bike closer?
Have a good ride Drew, anxious to hear a long range report on the Shotgun Shocks.
Regards,
Larry
Not a quick detach bag but take less than 30 mins to put on or take off.
No hardware left on the bike................

seems legit & sincere, also comes with brackets around $500.

The Easy Brackets have smaller attaching bolts, but they push the bags out further.
Boss bag would look better when on the bike, but their mounting bolts will really stick out with the existing sissy bar hardware on there.
Guess you can't have it both ways

I have looked at Osprey bags (aka saddlebags.net), looks like they make a quality product. They seem like a small, more personalized company with very good prices. I dont care to much for their wing-nut detachable system though. I could go with their bags or even Ironbags and use Easy Brackets, but from what Ive seen, the Easy Brackets make the bags hang out off the bike by the width of the bracket. Although they seem to have the smallest nipple/stud left when the bags are removed.
I think you are right Earl IV, guess you cant have it both ways. Boss doesnt use the rear fender stud on the sissy bar, is that correct?
Between Leatherpros and Boss, does anyone know which one fits the closest to the bike?
Touche buchlj, I wish I could see all of the different configurations in person before lay down the mucho bucks .then later wishing that I had done more research.
