I went from the ultimate to the Mustang. I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam and the Ultimate pushed me too far forward. The Mustang is better with the backrest and Perfect without it.
like others, at first I thought it was too hard, but after 1500 miles or so now, it is perfect.
I put one on my 2003. I feel it put me closer and higher and took a while to get used to. The backrest was worth it. I still don't feel it is the most comfortable seat on it's own.
Wife had a sport touring mustang on her 2009 Heritage for about 2,000 and she did not like it. She complained that it was too hard and was not comfortable after riding 50 miles. She purchased an Ultimate seat and now she is smiling down the road on every ride....
i've got the vintage (not the wide vintage) on my 05 deluxe. Great seat. Wayyy more comfortable than the stock seat and it changed the riding position to about 2-3" further back
Have the wide vintage on the Heritage & the sport solo on the fxst, both with backrest. Never a problem.
Could you post some close up pics of sport solo with the backrest on the fxst? I am considering getting a solo seat with a backrest. If it sits a little forward and down this would be perfect. I am also considering a Corbin Classic solo so if anyone has a comparison that would be great!

Unlike most here, mine seemed to sit me about an inch HIGHER than stock. I called Mustang and they said that is normal because of the harder material. I'm definitely lower in the stock Heritage seat but wouldn't trade my Mustang for anything. I have the 17.5" wide touring with removable backrest and seperate 14" passenger seat (which my wife loves to death).

I agree, a little higher & forward. I have the same combo on the Heritage. My wife is very happy but I just ordered Progressive 442's to really put her to sleep.
