My brother died and I now have his bike, it seems to be a custom one since the Vin# isn't like a Harley vin. Vin# starts with 4EMRL, anyone have any idea what type of frame it could be???? Harley told me the motor is a 86 from the EBLG number on it.
Ric
First, sorry about your brother.
About the VIN. We need pics to really help you out. However, with a number like that Im wondering if its something he custom made and thats the "special vehicle number" that was assigned by the local DMV. Do you have the title and whats it say it is?
Condolences on your loss. That vin is from a frame manufacturer identified in the NHTSA database as follows:
Manufacturer Name: Paughco
WMI: 4EM/
Address: 11 Cowee Dr Carson City NV 89706-7787, 897067787 United States
Product Type:Motorcycle Frames
Date: 09 May, 2002
I have the same problem with a "Harley" I am looking to buy. My issue is the plate on the side of this 4emrl frame and title, first it's a reconstructed title and the vin from the frame is not on the title. A little worried about this and don't want to proceed with the purchase if the bike isn't legal

If the numbers on the bike, don't match the paperwork... even if it's legit, it will be a nightmare to register in most states...
Don't walk away, run.... you'll save more time, money, & frustration finding a bike with a good title....
It's a rebuild on an aftermarket frame. Is it a HD engine? As long as the VIN# matches the title You're OK. But don't pay What you'd pay if it was All matching Harley #'s.

Thank you Daddy-O you're the man. You came through with an answer that I was looking for well. Lip-service from the rest about pictures which would have done them absolutely no good for determining whom made the frame.. LOL
Peace!
