I was riding with a friend last weekend, and the shift linkage on his Ultra Classic broke. The hole at the end of it just wore through enough that the pin broke through. Without hesitation, he opened the hard bags, took out a couple of zip ties, wired it up and was running again. At least enough to get home. That got me thinking I want to put together a tool kit/emergency repair kit to keep on the bike. I ride a Heritage so I have the saddlebag capacity for it. So, everyone put in your .02 and tell us what your tools and must have repair stuff would be. Thanks --craig
I didn't carry a toolbag with me until at a stop point of a poker run my intake cover fell off!!! From then on, I keep a multi-screwdriver, linemans pliers, crescent wrench, small set of allen wrenches, 2 bungie cords & a handful zip ties. Oh, and a shammy... you never know!!
Zip ties, electrical tape, torx, sockets, allen. I have a little kit i got from sears that has all the sockets, torx, and allens I need. I found a link to it here. It comes in a little red box and fits easily in my toolbag with more than plenty of room to spare.
I went to harbor Freight, spent about $30.00 and the thing is loaded.
Cresent, Double ended screw driver straight/philips, Alen wrenches, torx, small ratchet, wire cutters, pliers, small flash light, and a few more things I won't remember until I open it!!!! LOL
make sure put in a current tester of some kind. i had a one of the simple ones with the little red light, but misplaced it several years ago so i just carry a large volt meter.
