So... i just recieved my Lepera "barebones" pillion seat model # LX-007p and the pillion pad doesn't fit. I then called Lepera directly and they tell me they don't manufactuer a rear "barebones" pillion seat for a 08+ softails. I also asked them if they plan on producing them in the future. And guess what they said "NO"... Makes no sense to me!
It's all because HD now mounts the seats from the rear mounts not the sides. YES, i already knew that.
On a plus side i took the "barebones" pillion pad to a local seat maker and he's gonna cut the front metal mounting bracket/pan off the front then install suction cups on the bottom of the pad. It should look/work out great.. I'll post a pic next week when i get the seat back.
So you guys that are planning on buying a "barebones" seat for a 08+ softail better plan on having pillion headaches!!! May wanna re-think your seat options.
I ended up picking back up that LePera pillion seat from my local seat maker. I had second thoughts on screwing with the metal pan. Especially since i paid $105.00 smackers for it.
I bought it from American Classic Motor. The "Joe" blow guy told me it would fit but it didn't. Now they are trying to play hardball with me on my refund. Telling me i can have a store credit but not my money back...So i sent it back to them and filed a Paypal claim against them. Screw em'... lol ..
I checked online and i think im gonna go with the Phantom pad.. But yes plz let me know what you guys got. Thanx!
Nope your wrong.. i have a 150mm... And the reason why they don't make it for the newer softails, is because of mounting problems. Because on 08+ bikes the seats mount in the rear and the older models mount on the side.
FWIW i know i don't rock a softail but i picked up a le pera pillion to match my barebones, and while it fits and all that, it's a total pain in the *** to get on and off.
how are the suction cup pads with regards to the paint on your rear fender?
guys with vivid black bikes, i'm most interested in your answers here.
