I installed the HD headlight visor trim rings the passing lights and turn signals fit perfect but the headlight ring is not snug fitting I can easly move the ring back and forth and the retaining screw is quite tight. Should i perhaps use some duct tape inside the ring or is there a better method to deal with this.
I have those on 2 softails and they're both tight with no movement at all. I'd doublecheck your install. Maybe those rubber gaskets are misaligned or something.
There are 2 tabs at 10:00 and 2:00....they have a piece of rubber that goes around them (I just put the Visor trim rings on my bike today so I know)....if they come off, they ring will be loose. I had both of them come off when I took the stocker off and put the new ring on and it was loose....then I noticed the tabs were bare, I put the rubber on and its nice and snug!
On a side note....I has a mother ****er of a time with the passing lamps!

I just finished mine. If it hadn't been for this post, I might have spent another half-hour on the headlamp, fighting the inevitable.
There were no rubber bits anywhere to be seen, so I layered some duct tape over those tabs and it got the ring nice and tight.
He passing lamps were a mega-pain for me too. I learned on the first one to pull the bulb out of the back, remove the screw from the ring, pull it as wide open as I could get it, and then wrestle the lens unit into it, using a small flat blade screwdriver to push the foam all the way around. And then, to put the trim ring on the back and get the screw in tight to the point that there is just enough room to slip it back onto the housing before completing tightening it up.
Putting the beam back into the housing while the trim ring is too loose is inviting things to pop off and the little bits of hardware to potentially go flying everywhere.
Thinking U didn't install correctly or its the wrong ring for Ur light/bike.
Usually they are not easy to get on because they are snug to get on.
And NO way would I use Duck tape..
.
Well no, I'm one of the most mechanically competent people I know. The package said Softail on it, and had my year and model (FLSTC) on it. So I did get the right part. It fits beautifully, once it is set up right.
...and I seriously doubt that the planet is going to spontaneously explode, due to a couple of small strips of material on those tabs.

Yeppers they are the same ones I have.
I have replaced the head lamp and I don't recall the ring being loose at all.
In fact I remember almost needing 4hands to get it on.
Look at this link, it does show a gasket of some kind that goes on the light. U may see Ur dealer to see If Ur missing it.
