Default Tailbone

I have a Fatboy Lo that when stock really made my tailbone sore. I have since added street slammer bars which cured 90% of the pain. However I do still ache soon after I start riding. Does anyone have any suggestion to eliminate the ache.

A different seat and/or better suspension.

A new seat or some gel inserts could help.

I had the same problem on my softail. Went with drag style bars to make me lean forward a bit and put some memory foam in my seat. Pain free riding every time. Keep in mind that seat gel really gets hot in the summer.
Good luck...

Airhawk cushion. I've had a hip replacement and ever since I can't even drive a car more than about 2 hrs without my tailbone hurting the airhawk is the only thing that works for me. I tried 3 different seats and went back to my stock seat and the airhawk I keep it in my saddlebag for long rides.

I had a 2001 fxst with a Mustang solo seat. When I got to Florida for bike week, I had a gel pad installed. Best money I ever spent. 38,000 miles with no sore butt. Fast forward to this spring, 2010 XBones with stock seat, can't ride 150 miles without significant issues. Installed a gel pad, no improvement. Bought a 1925 seat (almost no padding) and significantly improved. I think my shock pre-load is still screwed up. Anyway, the bottom line is that trial and error seems to be the only solution.
