Complaint deleted! Le Pera's seat works fine. They knew what they were doing. I'm the idiot!
After trying the seat out, this morning I see now how it is supposed to fit. Le Pera's Bare Bones seat for '07-'11 Fatboys uses the next hole back, not the double mount holes further up (for the stock seat). Yes, I shoulda checked before assuming and posting anything. I'm such a moron!

If you like the seat keep it and drill the hole (no big deal)... put pop-in plugs in the two holes already there. It's tough doing that first mod of the factory set-up, but it will become easier as time and miles role by... who's going to know that there are three instead of two holes anyway? Just you!
keep us posted on what happens. if all is as you say, la pera should bear all costs to make this right. sounds like you had doubts about a double mount before you ever ordered the seat. there is usually 2 sides to every story--let us know what la pera says. good luck.
If you remove the two bolts were the solo bolts up and just use the one bolt on the rear fender it should work. Just a thought.
My bad, I thought it was a full length.
