No personal experience with raked cups, but can say don't use just raked trees. They'll decrease the trail, probably to an unsafe number. Using raked cups is equivalent to raking the neck. That will increase the trail, which will make the bike handle heavier/slower, especially at low speeds. At highway speeds it will be more stable. But 3 degrees ain't enough to make it a big enough deal to worry about on the low speed end.

Usually raked trees are used in conjunction with a raked neck or raked cups to bring the trail back closer to normal. Check out the numbers using both the raked cups and raked trees.

i've got 3 degree cups on mine....good way to go. relatively easy install and the price is right too!! its hard to see the extra rake on mine because i have extended forward controls and they take up some of the extra gap created by the rake........let me know if i can help out....btw, my bike handles great!

DD,

Where did you buy the ones you used. Did a search on google and found nothing but some rake/trail calculators.

Thanks,

Chuck

ok now we are getting somewhere!

i went to the perse calculator and put in the raked cups as if the neck was raked 3*
comes up no good with just a little too much trail

did the same with 3* raked trees and comes up perfect

did it the calculations with 3* cups AND 3* trees also comes up OK

now i am not looking for anything radical like 7* or 5*...........so i feel safe trying 3*

how do you install the cups? just drive out the old ones?

do i need to change anything with my fork lock or fork stops if i am using just 3* cups?

also can somebody describe the front fork fall away test for me? i have both service manuals but they are a little vague
