How does it feel when you try to engage the clutch?
Meaning does it feel smooth when you squeeze the lever? Do you notice any binding?
When taking out the slack, the cables tightens up nice and smooth.
When I get it to the correct tension, the clutch lever moves in and out smoothly also.
Doing this with the derby cover off, it seems that the bolt that I adjusted does not move very much, seems like it should move out more when pulling the clutch lever.

It does not have to move very far. Like said above, I think you are just feeling clutch drag that is normal. You need to start the bike in neutral, pull in the clutch, and pop it in 1st. If it takes off, you have a problem, but I am willing to bet it won't. I can't roll mine in 1st gear with the clutch in.

Thanks Jim.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow morning.

It doesn't sound like anything is wrong. Have you actually started it and tried as Jim suggests?

Also check this out. It's the same instructions, but sometimes it's not what is said but how it is said.

Thanks for that link, Mr. Lucky.
I like how he described the adjustment procedure.
I also use a boxend wrench instead of an openend wrench like you mentioned vs. the video method.

i recently adjusted my clutch too! not a 100% happy! i fixed the clunk into gear and easier gear selection, but clutch grabs further out on handle release and is quite heavy, i adjust this on cable, and it doesnt select gear so well!
i will try adjusting mr lucky's way!

This also happened to me when I changed out my bars. I just kept messing with the adjustment on the cable till I got it to work. It scared the crap out of me at first I thought I had done something wrong, but it was just in the adjustment, I also redid the clucth pack adjustment. When I started mine in neutral and shifted into 1st it wouldnt move. I dont know what to tell you other then dont sweat it, just take your time. Im sure someone here will have the answer.

It sounds like your good to go. You see very little movement when Looking at the clutch pack while working the clutch. Rather than starting the bike and jamming it in gear to see what happens. I would put it in first and then hit the starter to see what I feel.

Thanks Santo.
That is where I'm at right now. Bike in 1st gear, clutch out, bike does not move.
Start again fresh tomorrow...
