I can't get to the top right bolt. All the electrical connection boxes are right over it. Anyone else have this problem or just me.

Did anyone disconnect the old lic. plate bulb or just leave it

No jack, doing it from the ground. Any help or encouragement will be appreciated

Also why don't they make the plate bracket fit in between the the two housings, so you wouldn't need to get under the fender

 

I assume you mean under the fender.

The whole Plastic unit comes off.
Remove (1) Fastener
Open up Pull plastic cover toward rear of bike this should remove it.
you then can get to the bolt.

 

Yes once you get the plastic cover out of the way you can access the other bolts. You need a deep socket to remove them and its a pain in the **** to get a wrench on the bolts with the fender and wiring in the way. Just be patient...I nailed my head on my fishtails so many times I thought I had brain damage by the time I was done!

 

I got that off no problem, and actually got the other two off with no problem. It's just the upper right side, I can't get anything close the the nut

 

I disconnected the old bulb.I used a jack to drop the tire so access was a little easier.With no jack it will be a PITA plain and simple.Just take your time and dont get aggravated it will make it worse.Grab a beer try again. This is not a hard install but it does take a bit of patience in the tight area you have to work with.Good Luck

I recently installed mines too and it was somewhat of a pain. But like others posted here. You have to get the bike on a jack and let the rear tire drop. I too had a hard time getting my hands up inside the fender. One thing I did that made it a little easier was I let the air out my rear tire. This will give a enough room to work.

 

Use a jack or deflate the tire. That upper bolt is very hard to get to otherwise.
