Default Question for those with Lowered Front Suspension

Okay all you lowered front suspension guys & gals, I'm in need of some advice. I have an '05 Deluxe with 21" front wheel, lowered 1" with a progressive drop in kit. Looks killer but honestly, ride got a lot stiffer over stock ride, especially over the nasty bumps & potholes.

My question is, are there any other spring kits out there that provide a stock/better than stock ride for the front end? I plan on going to the shotgun air ride for the rear eventually so that should set me up nicely out back. I just want something that can match the ride I will eventually have in the back.

Nah bro, must have been my evil twin. I'm down south in the 619. I did ride up to the Mooneyes show at Irwindale last month.

Ride is gonna be stiffer/suffer the lower you go. You traded looks for comfort.. Use heavy wieght fork oil to help prevent bottom outs.

I used to have the Arlen Ness dampners which were terrible and changed to Progressive springs.

Your not gonna find a mushy stock feeling ride unless is lifted back to stock.

Thanks all for the replies so far....I was reading another thread this morning that mentioned Ricor Intiminators which sounded promising. Who has experience with these and could this be a solution?

I thought the good Dr. may have mentioned installing these in one of his threads. Will these work with a drop in kit?

Aloha All,

MY 2008 Deluxe is running a 21" Front and 18" rear (Fat Dadday 50's) I've installed the progressive drop in spring kit on the front end and dropped the full 2"s. And also installed the progressive 422's and dropped the rear 1 3/4". My front ends feels firmer. But imo handles better. As for the rear, yeah it's a little stiffer ride but it is tolerable. Not to mention the bike looks sick lowered.

If you only dropped the front 1", try going the full 2"s. I sure you'll like the feeling. Plus with that 21" front wheel up front. It will be bring the front end back down to stock height. Taller tire up front, raises the bike and changes your rake.

I have the drop in kit for the Rocker, initially installed with the spacer uncut, and the ride was very uncomfortable. I tried removing the spacer completely, but that made it way to soft.

In the end I cut 1" of the 3" spacer and that gave a smooth nice ride again!!

So if its too stiff, cut a bit of the spacer.

Robert
