Default Handle bars too far away

My '07 Heritage fits me pretty good, but it would be better if the bars were back about 1" closer to me. When seated comfortably, it seems like my arms are stretched just a little bit too far. I like the heighth, width, angle of the dangle, and all the rest, I just wish they were back about an inch closer. Is there a quick adjustment, or do I need more parts. I might un-clamp them, and see if I can gain anything by rolling back & down a little, but would be surprised if that got me where I need to be.

Take a look at this part number 500-726 in J&P Cycles. This should work for you and it allows you to use your top cap.

I had the same issue on my '08. I just loosened the clamp and pulled them back a bit. Fits fine now.

If you only need an inch or two simply rolling them back may do the trick. Rolled mine back even further and it still didn't work for me. I didn't like the look either. Ape type bars look best when they're aligned with the forks or forward imo.

Roll the bars back. A taller bar will provide a shorter reach when rolled back as well.

I guess I'll try rolling them back a little tomorrow, a cheap fix if it works, otherwise I guess I'll look at risers.

Being of the vertically challenged stature I had the same problem on the 06 fatboy. I had 16 inch apes but looked like crap rolled back. Went with 12 inch apes and 4 inch risers with a 2 inch pullback. Looks great and fits a whole lot better.

I'm riding it OK as is, but I just wish my arms were about an inch longer. I like the way the bike looks with the bars at the angle they are now, and if rolling them back just a tad doesn't work, I think JADs' idea using the J&P P/N might be just what I need.
