Gear Driven Cam
I have an 06 Softail Classic - just over 10k miles - was looking into the Gear Driven Cam set up and wanted to get input on pros and cons of doing this? I don't know much about the motor and powertrain of my Harley yet.
Thanks

Personally, I love mine and was glad I did it. Set up correctly, gears are no noisier than chains, and you'll never have to worry about tensioners again. Set up in-correctly or on a bike with too much crankshaft runout, you'll have nothing but problems.
Like oct1949 said, do some research and talk to a few wrenches in your area about it, then decide which route you wanna take.

You're going to get all types of opinions about gears vs chain drive. Especially now that there are hydraulic cam chain tensioner conversion kits available for late model twin cam engines.

Nothing wrong with geardrives. I have them in my '02 and have installed them in a couple of other guys bikes. I'd still go with the new hydraulic setup if I were in your shoes. It costs less, is just as reliable, and gives you a better oil pump.
