I just lost my 2010 fxdb yesterday to a fire,,I think its going to be a total loss,,,so im just browsing bikes,,,,and a was looking at the black line,,what or the pros and cons to the 96b engine to the 96,, and soft tail to dyna handling and riding ,,,,, The parts are they limited on the blackline ?
Sorry about your bike, but at least you can get a new one now. I had started on a 07 Super Glide, and then picked up my current bike, 09 Xbones. I don't know all the technical diff between the two, but I can tell you that the softail rides smoother, the suspension is better, and feels more solid on the road. I'm glad I moved to softail. If you get the blackline alot of us on the softie side will be very curious to hear about the ride, and see what you do to it. Good luck.

The 96b will feel like it has less low end as it takes off, less of that thrilling punch when you pull on the throttle, due to the counterbalancing. It's that same mechanism that makes it idle smooth and have much less noticeable vibration at highway speeds, for a smooth ride.
Overall the softail tends to be more comfortable as a ride than the dyna, at least from my personal experience.
The thin front tire of the Blackline concerns me in regards to road ride ( it would tend to pop loose stones, tug on grooves, etc) than a fatter tire. I kinda like the styling of the bike and think it has a lot of customizing potential.
As far as unique, you won't see many of them lined up in front of a bar.
Sorry to hear about you luck man. Never rode one but seen one inperson about a week ago in lake Charles, sweet lookin bike, been waiting for someone on hdf to get one and start modifying.
Hard to explain the feeling of seeing all your tools ,and your own personal place,,,all gone in secs,,,plus on top of that loosing a bike after coming to close on the years mods,,,
I see something good in the black line,,,If things work out with ins,,,im going to start chopping, welding and fabbing right away,,,
I think it a good platform for making a killer bike... The bars gotta go in my opinion they look to skinny but you'll have to move the speedo to run normal risers... But like I said real good to start with. Here's a few pics of my buddy joe seating on one at the dealer yesterday.
Great time to buy.. Wait till the last 3 days of the month to tell them how much you will pay for it and give them your #. Be ready mid day on the 28th they will call! I got my 07 Deluxe in Febuary for 18,500 out the door and it was 21,500 list. Only 28 days to meet quotas in winter month.
REMEMBER!!! The salesman is not your friend and wont be after you buy your bike!
My last two Harleys were a Fatbob and then a 09 Ultra Classic, like both of them but got the 2011 Fatboy Lo (first softtail) and I like the feel and power of the softail 96B engine. I have no problem with the counterbalanced engine, in fact i like it better. Just my opinon.
Those are good pictures Story808, gives me a better impression of the Blackline than I had before. A lot to like. I dig the evo air cleaner (were they looking at my bike
But that speedo setup looks bad....where did they get the idea for that, Suzuki? Hopefully a standard Softail dash will fit. The low profile dash in black would have made that bike.
