and will be heading home on a Road King. Rode in to the shop this morning after my daily 55 mile commute, and got a call from my dad to pick up his RK and run it for a while. It's been sitting since last summer and he hasn't had the chance to ride it much. It's been a while since I've been on a touring model, and took a while to get used to the raised, on top of the bike, seat height. But after a few miles, man this thing is incredible. I'll be taking it home this weekend to play around with, maybe catch a parade with some friends, since Mardi Gras has started down here, then head out to the coast and really run it. Thinking seriously about taking him up on his offer to keep it through the summer since it won't be ridden otherwise. Anyone out there have both a Softail, and a Touring bike, if so which would you keep if you had to give up one? I love my Lo, but when side by side, I think the RK being slammed, blacked out, with apes wins out. Not to mention the ride is beyond compare.
My next bike will be a RoadKing. I have just paid off my Heritage and now I want to buy a RK as well. I would take advantage of his letting you use it for sure.
As long as you are not hurting anybody....if it feels good....do it. Apart from an old lady....I can't think of anything more personal than your bike. It's why a guy takes a perfectly acceptable new bike and can't wait to mod the MFer. Good for you, Congratulations...you found a bike you really like....I bet you never really liked that FLSTFB from the gitgo.

My lo brothers are going to shred me for this, but I have an Ultra also and if I had to give one up it would be my softail. I've ridin long distances on both and the Ultra has a kenwood sound system, lowered w/ trunk gone, but has a detatchable back rest, cruise control, hard bags etc... and my wife goes with me on long hauls, so it's a no brainer for me.
But with that said, I will always have 2 bikes. I love the softail fat boy lo and I use it to mod and bring to life what I invision for it. If I ever sell it, I would already have another picked out.
Truth is! you will miss it, so if at all possible keep both and you feel like your on top of the world!
A guy I work with up here has a RK and it's beautiful.. I wouldn't mind getting the chance to ride one sometime, It just looks like it would be a totally different world going from my train to that. I have seen a couple that are slammed and blacked out and they are saweet.
i've got a heritage, fatboy and street glide if i could only have one i'm pretty sure it would be street glide. it would be a tough decision though i like them all.
after the parade, took about a 100 mile ride down to the coast. I was blown away by the power the RK had on the interstate compared to how big it is, and the comfort was incredible. Going back out on it today, for a ride around the city. As soon as I get off it, I want to get back on and go. It was painful to see my Lo just sitting there in the garage when I got home, but I think I've found a new ride. I've decided to keep it through the summer and see where it goes from there. Got a feeling I'll have 2 bikes long beyond the summer though.
Thanks guys for all your input, someone had asked the year, it's an '09. Oh, the best perk of an unbalanced engine is at red lights when you have a big boobed chick on the back...Have a great weekend, and be safe out there.
Sold my RK for the Night Train. Liked the RK but wanted a NT for years. I am looking at getting a Street Glide when I get the 87 project done and sold. Can't beat the ride of the newer touring bikes.
And by the way you suck woke up to 3 inches of new snow with more expected for the next week.
