I am new to Harley's, but on a vette exhaust, popping on decel is usually unburned fuel that ignites in the exhaust pipe itself. No big deal and some like the sound - muscle car attitude. Why does a lean condition on these bikes cause popping on decel?

I LOVE the sound of the exhaust with no baffles. If I ride normal and just take it easy on the gas it isn't bad. But if you get into it wow it is LOUD!

Thx again Drew this was the best mod next to the Shotgun shock. Love getting to work and slamming it on the ground.

the only DAMAGE that will be done (short term) from running lean will be blued pipes. Continue to run lean and you will do head damage.

What I am getting from this though is that you just have new pipes that sound different. A good tuner will ensure you're not running lean. Personally I would do the AC and tuner before a seat. What good is sitting on a bike that isn't running right? Maybe its just me.

No problem. I always had a power Commander on my bike when I had the fishtails. It is nice slamming the bike when you arrive. It's always better when someone is watching and their mouth drops open. fI'd suggest a tuner an air cleaner first as well. Their are numerous options available in all price ranges.

This is true. Will have to go that route. If I am going to damage my heads that would get expensive.

Just not sure which tuner would be a smart route to go. There are a few of them. Some are a few hundred and some are over 1K.

If you installed new pipes, you might be leaking at the exhaust ports. This will cause popping on decel due to cool air being sucked into the exhaust port when you let off throttle. If so, you need to adress that. It can cause engine problems.

I think I have this same symptom. What is the best way to determine if there's an exhaust leak?
