Default Reshaping the Deluxe Seat

I took my seat to the local shop to have it reshaped in order to move back a couple of inches. I carefully explained what I wanted and he insisted that I bring the bike in. Well, that's a lot of trouble, so I decided to reshaped the seat myself. I know exactly how to shape it, but my problem is that I have no idea what kind of tool to use. If there was some kind of "scoop" foam saw, then it would be no problem. Someone posted a thread about this a while back and said that he used a grinder?!? Any ideas?

Send your seat our to www.americanasoftseats.com. They'll shave it and install a gel pad, then put memory foam over it. You've never felt anything so good!! Had mine done on my Deluxe last spring and it's awesome.

I use a air grinder with two differant pads, one is a new 25 grit pad, the other is a 7-9 year old 25 grit pad that I use for final shaping. What I would suggest doing is take off a little at a time and sitting on the bike till you hit the sweet spot. I have had guys send me seats that they tried using knifes on and what a mess they make. Just take your time and you'll do fine. What kind of stapler do you have to put the cover back on with? I have 3, manual, electric and a BEA air stapler. The first two will work but you have to make sure you have them press firmly against the seat pan or the staples will curl and it can get aggrevating. The BEA gun is great but may be hard to find in your area. If you have any specific questions on doing please feel free to PM me and I'll try to help you all I can.

My guy had me ride in.
He measured a bit with me on the bike.

Then he had me come back with the seat.
He shaped it, then had me sit on it there on a bench. Just checking against his measurements.
Took it home, tried it out...
Rode back with it, had him tailor it a bit.

He put the cover back on and all was well. Total time of about 3 hours including all the travel and stuff.
