What color?
Blue smoke = oil
Black smoke = too rich
White smoke = condensation

Find a shop with good rep....and try and strike up a friendship....its not gonna be cheap..but here's an opportunity to upgun the motor.

1. Did you recently change the oil?
2. Have you checked the oil level lately?

There is a difference when the engine is warm or cold, if you possibly added oil after a cold check it may just have too much. If not you have a bigger issue...

If it's puffing bluish white smoke when it's running and up to temperature then as mentioned above there's a problem... check your plugs... check your oil level... run a can of seafoam thru a tank of gas... if none of that works call AAA. Seriously... have a good independent who has never worked for a HD dealer before take a look at it.

Seafoam is deadly to the O2 sensors .. stay away from that stuff it will do more harm than good.

Now what old wife told you that? Would take some empirical data to convince me of that!
