Man! It's always something isn't it? I am installing the V&H BSS on my '08 Deluxe that has the Deluxe saddle bags. It seems I can't get the pipes on if the bracket that originally had the footpeg, mounts to the OEM pipes and the saddlebags attach to at the bottom.
Am I supposed to yard this thing? I will have nothing to attach the bags to at the bottom. Instructions with the BSS mention nothing abou tthe foot peg being in the way nor what to do with the bracket. Here's a pic.
Thanks for the responses guys. It became painfully obvious to me that the stock bracket had to go and, yes, the V&H did come with it's own bracket. I had to move the passenger peg up to a capped off threaded hole. At the moment I have the saddlebag support strapped to the frame with a spare hose clamp that I suddenly had.

Hey Rockchalk, are you talking about the bottom support spindly looking thing of the bag itself? I may not really need it?
I'm talking about the bottom support that comes with the Deluxe bags. The bags are held pretty snug with just the four fender bolts.
Right on!! They're coming off then, especially since there is nothing to bolt to now and it is a pretty chincy fix I have going on. Not to mention you can SEE it. Thank you
