When I bought my crossbones, I never thought I'd be planning a 4 day trip but I am. If I would of new I'd be riding longer trips I probably would of bought a street glide but o well....it is what it is at this point.
Anyways, I currently only have a solo garageworks back and needless to say this isn't going to do the job.
I was wondering what you've guys done out there as far as sissy bar bags on the crossbones. It looks as though there are some really nice sissy bar bags but from what I'm reading....you can't use them unless you have a luggage rack and I can't find a luggage rack for the bike. I currently have the HD sissybar with pad.
Any input for a solution into this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks as always and SAFE RIDING!
Are you taking a passenger? If not you can set the bag on the pillion. Saw a nice duffel with a back rest on one of the ads here...
I have strapped ones to my bar without a luggage rack, just secure it good and make sure there is now decorations on it that will scratch the fender...

I'm not taking a passenger (the wifey) on this trip but I would like the capability of putting it on the pillion or only on the sissy bar. I'm sure wifey will be coming on a trip later down the road where we will need storage also.
When you put the bag on without a luggage rack does it actually sit directly on the fender?
Bag on the pillion secured to the sissy bar. Only 4 days, wife staying home, you should only need a small bag. Better yet buy clean drawers/socks on day 3 and throw the dirty away and then you don't need a bag at all. Live on the edge and leave the raingear at home.
Harley does sell a nice black rack for the Bones, takes about 20 minutes to put it on. Here is a pic of it loaded up for a week and the other is the best I can find that show the rack. The bike does fine on long trips.
I been on 7 day trips on my X- Bones and taking another one next weekend from Chicago to Arizona. I strap a back pack to the rear fender but be sure to put a rag underneath to protect the paint.
