My diary: modding my Rocker C (ongoing)
i felt like contributing to the forum after lurking, reading and getting a lot of useful information. So here is my little diary of modding my 2008 Rocker C which still goes on. Please excuse my bad english, I am not a native speaker.
First of all, I loved the Rocker from first sight: chrome all over and a fat *** tire. After a test ride of one hour at a local inofficial Harley dealer ("just ride it, if you come back in less than one hour, it's not meant to be your bike"). Well, I loved it and bought it right away. Well, after riding one season and getting to know my bike a lot better I found a lot of things to enhance. A common joke about Rocker riders here in Germany: "Riding a Rocker makes lonely". Well, now I know why: ugly bars, the ugliest gap between seat and rear fender combined with the ugliest seat ever (note: Rocker C!) and the tank which completely destroys the line of the bike.
So after saving a little money I decided to mod my bike. After visiting some local customizers I wasn't quite sure about their ideas how to mod the bike and beside these guys were pretty expensive. I knew I was never going to mod everything from the ugly parts list at once. DAMMIT! Well, so when visiting the regulars' table for Harley Davidson riders (started by a german HD forum) I told them my story about modding. There I met this sick dude (Jörg) who was pulling a self constructed trailer behind his Softail Custom. WTF?
OK, so the guy told me to bring the bike to his place when I got time. He said he already modded some of his bikes: his old Kawasaki LTD 750, his wife's Honda chopper and his Softail with the trailer. His bike looked really nice so why not give it a shot. A little time went by until December last year when I called him, telling I was ready for modding. Since there was a lot of salt on the streets he picked me up with a trailer.
Later in the car he confessed to me "dude, we have a problem" WTF????? "I don't have electric power in the garage" -"EEEERRRRRR?" "We gotta mod the bike on my balcony like I did with all my previous bikes" -"BALCONY????? It's like 30°F out here, ****ing cold. And how do you want to get that heavy bike up to a balcony?" "No problem, not the first time for me." I was too stunned to answer to that. His flat was on first floor and we managed to push the bike up a small wooden ramp to the balcony with 4 people.
So, bike was on the balcony and ready for some work on it. After talking to Jörg we decided to completely mod the bike. New tank, new seat, new rear fender, new air filter, and new bars. So we got the first custom rear fender.
Bike on the balcony:
So the fender didn't fit too well, the gap between tire and fender was too small. Too bad it looks pretty rad.

While the 2nd fender was ordered we mounted some new risers for the new Bonanza apes: spike risers made by Thunderbike and bars made by Fred Kodlin. Both well known customizers here in Germany.
Thunderbike Risers
Ape bars needed to be polished and chromed. So more time to wait... why not tear down the tank. I ordered a tank lift on ebay for my Rocker but I still didn't like it. Bike with tank lift:
So we ordered a custom tank for the Rocker from Thunderbike. In between the bars were polished and chromed, so we mounted tank, bars and longer hoses:
HELL YEAH! That's what I was looking for. Bar looks like RSD, just a little bit better to me.

So I hope to get some feedback from you.

Good choice on the gas tank.
What are your plans for painting it and what seat do you want to install?
yes Kowan, you're right

Looks promising.
Before working on the rear fender we decided to build a custom seat for the rocker that the rear fender would fit well to. So we took some stainless steel round pipes and started bending and welding a skeletal structure for the seat. The seat should fit into the drill hole of the stock seat.
Well, one bar (do you call it bar?) wasn't enough, we decided to add another one for a more aggressive look.
So this is how it looks like mounted
Now that we had the shape of the seat construction it was time to work on the rear fender and the seat itself.
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Next step was cutting side metal sheets for the seat construction to cover the screws. We changed the stock screws for counter sunk screws. Since there was some unused space in that seat skeleton Jörg welded 2 pipes in there for the TAADAAAA detachable luggage rack. I really hated the bike for the unsexy ways to mount luggage.
A little contrast to the spike of the rear fender and better way to mount luggage with belts.
Next step was modding the front fender, spikes rule:
This is how my baby looks right now, parts are going for painting, seat for applying leather:

So right now i need your help. What paint job fits well? Oil tank and frame remain in flame blue pearl color. Need advise please!
