Default Turn Signal Module bad?

Anyone had a turn signal module go bad? If so, what were the signs and how did you diagnose it? My symptoms are front and rear left signals don't work, but front left running light works. Left signal indicator on speedo does not work. When turning ignition on, the right speedo indicator blinks about 4 or 5 times. All right signals work fine.

Certainly could be the flasher module. They're only like 15 bucks I think? Bikerhiway had a universal one that worked with LED bulbs too for 20 bucks. superbrightleds.com has a universal module that works with LED bulbs as well. Might be worth a shot, but it sounds pretty feasible to me.

I had one go bad. My brake light stopped working altogether. I threw it in the trash and never got another.

You don't have turn signals? Is this the module behind the splash guard your referring to?

Never mind. I meant the brake run turn module.

The TSM (turn signal module) in our bikes does more then just flash the turn signals. It is part of the security system and the tilt sensor to shut the bike of if you fall over. That is unless you are refering to the run, turn, brake mod which is an add on of course.
Back to the OP. My suggestion is new bulbs and clean the sockets and use dielectric grease when putting in the new bulbs. Yes replace even if you see them burning. They might not be drawing the correct voltage/amperage to tell your bike they are there. I had an ordeal last year with mine doing all kinds of funny things. blinking dim, very fast, not cancelling even by the switch. The bulbs are cheap, can't recall now either 1157 or 1034's so start there.

Did that this morning. New bulbs. Cleaned connections and added dialectic grease. How did you clean your connections? The weird thing is that the indicator on the speedo doesn't even light up. Usually if a bulb is bad the speedo indicators blink fast or something, but my left one doesn't light up at all...

A pen eraser works for cleaning the contacts in the signal body.
A pencil eraser has wax in it to "repair" the paper after erasing.

Just rubbing the bulb's contact on your jeans works in a pinch.

I don't like the idea of needing an electrical manual for your bike along with a shop manual, but it would show what voltages you should be getting at different points.
