I'm at work now so I'll have a 55 mile ride with the loose bars. Yay...

I haven't cared for the bars and I think this is a good excuse as any to just order the bars I want. The narrow beach bars in black.

From what I can tell this is a fairly common issue, but how can I tighten the bars without stretching threads in the risers? I was thinking a thin piece of aluminum or something inside the riser wrapped around the bar in the mean time. But what kind. and where would I get it?

BTW I checked the riser bolts and they are as tight as I can get them.

How do you stop this from happening on even higher apes?
Get exacto blade and cut a strip of beer can or soda can....about the width of the rider clamp....set it the clamp and drill out two holes for the bolts through the rolled up sleeve...in effect you have made a very thin bushing sleeve...now you can retighten the hex bolts...use some red loctite on the threads.

Your bars will stay put now.

I cut up a couple beer cans the other day and my new bars just came in, so I'll do this this afternoon when I install them. Thanks, I did it exactly as you described.
