I went to Autozone and got an h3 55W bulb for about $3. Gently ease the rubber off the back of the stock passing lamp and you can get to the bulb. Harley wants to sell you the entire sealed unit which is overkill.

Drew, I'm at work right now so I can't look at the bike to verify... But being a 2000 model, I believe mine are true sealed beam units, unlike the newer model years. Yes/No...??
Rather than starting a new thread, I'll ask here - is there something as simple and cheap as buying a different bulb that will get me a brighter headlight on a 2010 FLSTC?
At this point I cant spend $500+ on the new LED headlamp.
I'm not expecting a huge improvement, but I was just curious if I could just buy a brighter bulb and plug/play - ?
That's a good question. I'm still saving my pennies for on of those Bright *** Tail Lights. I would like a little bit brighter headlamp for those long night rides out in the country.

I put one of the eBay HID kits on my RK a few years ago, and it was only about $60 back then. It made a huge improvement.
I read that light scatter can be a problem with these aftermarket kits, but being a bit annoying is usually a safety factor on a motorcycle. That's always worked for me ...
